Project Sales Manager – networking infrastructure/communications organisation, South Africa and East AfricaScenarioThe South Africa-based company specialises in networking and infrastructure, and networking communications. They were looking for a candidate with a proven track record in networking and selling directly to East Africa. The role was based in South Africa but included extensive travel to East Africa.Reporting to the business development manager and focusing on driving sales in and around countries in East Africa, the candidate had to have:Over five years of sales experience in AfricaTechnical knowledge in networking and infrastructure solutionsA strong sales driveAfter a meeting to discuss Michael Page’s offerings and solutions, the client asked for assistance with the project sales manager role, working with us exclusively.SolutionA number of steps were taken to find a suitable selection of candidates, the first being a thorough search of the extensive Michael Page database and the re-screening of appropriate candidates. The Michael Page network, locally and internationally, gives us access to a large number of candidates within different sectors and this was used accordingly. External searches were necessary too, involving approaching relevant individuals and networking. Web advertising was also employed to attract candidates not already on our database. From these methods of search we were able to produce a long list of candidates. These were then screened to produce a final shortlist to present to the client for interviewing.OutcomeThe process took around a month, from search to completion, which met the timescale expectations for a project of this nature. A good result for all parties involved.SalesLinksAbout usBrowse for jobsOur sectorsLinksBusiness servicesFinancial servicesFMCG/consumer durablesHealthcareIT/telecomsMedia/new mediaProfessional servicesNews and updatesLinksCase study: Networking project sales managerCase study: Scientific account manager Retaining your best sales people is essentialInsight and adviceLinksHow to get a promotionHow to write a great CVTips for conducting an interviewUse social media in your employer branding
